And we’re at the northern tip of Barnegat Light on a quiet dead-end street. At night, the lighthouse beam literally washes overhead of this home. King-sized master in this bright, cheery, newly renovated home with reverse living. Bedrooms are on the first level (above garage level) and the kitchen, great room and decks are above — where the VIEWS are! All new stainless appliances. The kitchen is well equipped with gas cooking and there is a Weber gas grill outside for your use. In addition to the king master, one bedroom has a queen, one twin with a trundle. The fourth also has a bunk and a twin. 9 guests max. Full bath on bedroom level, half bath on living room level. Outside shower at ground level. Beach badges are provided. The stairs are not really suitable for people with mobility issues, or young children under age 5. Owner holds NJ RE license. Check-in and check-out times are strict to accommodate COVID cleaning protocols. Sorry, pets are not allowed. You might consider TrustedHousesitters, MindMyHouse, or HouseSitters America for free pet sitting in your home while you are truly on vacation!

Neighborhood

At Viking Village, you’ll find day boats, charters, shopping, fresh fish and produce. The inlet jetty is an easy walk for the fishermen. Or sit and relax on one of the decks and just gaze out at the water, watching the ospreys. At the end of the short dead-end street, you will catch the free (seasonal) tram that takes you and all your gear (no schlepping!) to the lifeguard stand for ocean beaching. From inside or on the decks, you can watch the boats go by in and out of the inlet. Walk to everything — skate park, playground, deli, liquor store, restaurants, mini-golf, fishing, boat rentals, sunset cruises, ice cream, surf, and paddleboard rentals, bike rentals, boating, pavilion (concerts!), pickleball, tennis, basketball courts, nature trails, beach! You can also walk one minute from the house to catch the inexpensive (seasonal) shuttle. The shuttle takes you or your kids as far as the south tip of the island. Once there, you will find live theatre, amusement/water park, and lots more shopping and restaurants.

About the location

Home Swap Long Beach Island: LBI, as Long Beach Island is known in the local lingo, is a beach lover’s paradise. Even at the widest point of this 18-mile-long island strewn with small shore towns and long stretches of white sand, you’re never more than half a mile from the other side.

In the north part of the island is Barnegat Light, which encompasses Barnegat Lighthouse State Park and the commercial fishing port of Viking Village.

Also in the north are the relaxed towns of Surf City, Loveladies, North Beach and Harvey Cedar.

Head south to find bustling Ship Bottom, Holgate, Brant Beach and Beach Haven, the island’s main action center.

Here you’ll find the family-oriented Fantasy Island Amusement Park, a water park.

Beach Haven is home to Thundering Surf Water Park & Adventure Golf, which features eight giant waterslides, super soaker water guns, giant tipping bucket and much more. The town is also a popular shopping spot especially the stores in the belly of the reconstructed tall ship at Schooner’s Wharf.
