Home Swap Puerto Rico: We live on a 3×7 mile island just 17 miles off of the east coast of Puerto Rico with one of the top rated beaches in the world, Playa Flamenco. Culebra is also known as “The Last Virgin” for the simple reason that you will find areas untouched and note you won’t find any chain stores of any kind. You can see St. Thomas as well Vieques from the island and will find many quiet white sandy beaches with gorgeous views all around this little island.

We came to visit this little rock a few years before the pandemic and the moment we put our feet on the beach and saw the beauty of the island, we decided we just had to move here! We rarely leave the island unless we wish to visit family or go on a vacation from running our vacation rental on the first floor of our home. For this reason and of course due to our full time online jobs we are open to non-simultaneous swaps only.

About the location

Home Swap Puerto Rico: Right next to the island there is a natural reservation on a smaller island called Culebrita, about a 20-25 minute boat ride away. Water taxi’s and boat captains are readily available to cater to all your needs, including tropical meals served on a catamaran. We love the island and the people here, the simple way of life, and living on “island time”. If you are a laidback adventurer, this is the place is for you!

Getting here may be a dash more than a hop, a skip, and a jump, but it is so worth it! You will have to fly in to San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) and from there either fly directly into Culebra (CPX), take a taxi to Ceiba on the east coast from where you can charter an air taxi for up to 6 individuals, or take a taxi to the ferry in Ceiba that will take you to Culebra. We live near a small airport with a Jeep and Golf cart rental right across the street and the ferry is only a mile away from the house.

We do offer beach and bath towels as well as bathroom and kitchen necessities so you can travel light. We have snorkel gear and other beach accessories available to all our guests as well as a Touch Stay Guidebook to help you navigate around and explore the island. For a full vacation experience we encourage anyone who wishes to swap with us to reach out to a local cleaner we trust who can clean after your departure so you don’t have to ($80USD).

We are experienced travellers and at the moment we would love to explore new rocks under the sun. Originally hailing from South Africa and Poland and also having lived in Massachusetts (USA), we feel very comfortable wherever we go. At this moment we are mainly interested in islands surrounding our rock that we can travel to via boat, but we do love and will consider swaps in Spain, Portugal, France, and pretty much anywhere around the Mediterranean Sea.
