Home Swap England: Detached open-plan house with large garden and hot tub. Our chalet bungalow is located in a quiet, exclusive and leafy residential area on the outskirts of Trowbridge town. We bought it around 11 years ago and have since lovingly renovated and extended it at the rear. It includes a wonderful orangery lounge with full-width doors opening on to our beautiful private garden containing a sunken hot tub – as well as a large patio and BBQ area.

We also have a completely separate 1-bed log cabin that has been newly renovated to a high standard. This is offered as a separate rental/house swap from the main house. We can therefore offer both simultaneous and non-simultaneous swaps.

Interior

The lounge leads into an open plan dining area with a table to seat 10 and a large well-stocked kitchen which we both love cooking in. Next to the dining room is Tony`s office (which will be locked during your stay) from which he runs his top-quality meat & fish delivery business. Along the hallway are the 2 guest bedrooms. One ensuite and the other next to the family bathroom, as well as a utility room with a washing machine &, tumble drier. Upstairs is the Master bedroom with a super-king bed, lounge area and a walk-in wet room and bathroom. The bedroom leads out into a large balcony overlooking the garden. Val`s office, which you are welcome to use, is also upstairs. We have fast broadband throughout the house. There are 2 landlines and Freesat TV as well as a comprehensive music system in the lounge. Although all our children have now left home and have families of their own, we meet up every week at our house for “family night” which means we have cots, high chairs, buggies, car seats, and toys that you would be welcome to use if you wish. Luckily for us, we have several large cabins in the garden where we can store these when not in use. So the house is not cluttered when it is just the 2 of us. We have a cleaner once a week (Tuesday morning) and could arrange a local personal fitness trainer and a mobile hairdresser if you wish.

About the location

Home Swap England: Just 8 miles from the beautiful Georgian City of Bath. 21 miles from Salisbury/Stonehenge, 25 miles from Bristol and 40 miles from the glorious Cotswolds. Trowbridge is itself the County Town of Wiltshire with a rich heritage based around the woollen industry. There are plenty of restaurants, shops, sports facilities and a cinema within a short walk of the house. We are very fortunate to be well placed with the beautiful surrounding countryside. Yet, at the same time, we are within easy reach to both the M3 and M4 motorways. Allowing easy access to the South coast, London, Oxford, the South West, Wales and much more. Tony is a keen fisherman so will be able to give you lots of advice about where to fish and we are also both scuba divers and can put you in touch with our local club in Bath if you wanted to find out about diving in the UK. We are interested in simultaneous swaps or could potentially do a non-simultaneous swap if our children were able to put us up or we were away elsewhere.
