        About the location

Home Swap Dominica: Dominica is a mountainous Caribbean island nation with natural hot springs and tropical rainforests. Morne Trois Pitons National Park is home to the volcanically heated, steam-covered Boiling Lake. The park also encompasses sulphur vents, the 65m-tall Trafalgar Falls and narrow Titou Gorge. To the west is Dominica’s capital, Roseau, with colorful timber houses and botanic gardens.

Roseau, located on the southwest coast and known for its 18th-century Creole. Dominica has a combination of modern and colonial French architecture. Its cobblestone Old Market, formerly a slave auction site, sells crafts and fruit. It’s next to the Dominica Museum, with exhibits on the country’s natural and cultural history. The Dominica Botanic Gardens showcase tropical flora and native Sisserou parrots, nearby waterfalls and thermal springs. The main buildings include a Roman Catholic cathedral, St. George’s Church (Anglican), Government House, and Victoria Memorial Museum. Some 5 miles (8 km) east of town is Morne Trois Pitons National Park, which contains a flooded fumarole known as Boiling Lake. The park was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997.

As the most important town on the island and hub of all business activity, the city is a central point of the road networks on the island. It is an important link between northern, eastern, and southern bound traffic.

Roseau is served by Canefield Airport, a nearby small aircraft airport that provides direct links to nearby islands, as well as the larger Douglas–Charles Airport to the north. The ferry terminal provides direct links to the neighbouring Guadeloupe to the north and Martinique and St. Lucia to the south.
