Known for its stellar food scene, breweries, an always-exciting downtown and more outdoor activities than you can count, the city is just 30 minutes northwest of Denver, where the Rocky Mountains meet the plains.

To the west, the trail-lined Flatirons are craggy rock formations overlooking the city. Downtown’s pedestrian Pearl Street Mall includes art galleries, cafes, restaurants and boutiques. The University of Colorado Boulder campus is home to the Fiske Planetarium and the Museum of Natural History, with zoology and anthropology exhibits.

Boulder Canyon and other canyons in the vicinity have great scenic beauty. One of the most “Boulder” things you can also do in Boulder is go tubing down Boulder Creek. A warm-weather activity enjoyed by locals (and adventurous visitors) for generations. One of the best spots to drop in is the grassy park areas around the Boulder Public Library or, if you just feel like walking or biking the shady 5.5-mile Boulder Creek Path instead, no one’s gonna fault you for it.
